Large and very rare Tairona carnelian amulet bead. Traditionally amulets of this type have been described as “grubs”, but more recently it has been proposed, by Tairona amulet collector, Robert Soba, that they are actually representations of jaguars. Earl Kessler, who has written a number of articles about the Tairona and their beads, now agrees with this theory.
