Large rare Olmec Culture blue/green jadeite bead, sourced in Guatemala. Blue and blue/green jadeite was favored by the Olmecs, over all other colors. This bead is a beautiful variegated blue/green, with an attractive band of orange gold, that appears to come from an impurity in the stone matrix. The bead has a fine hard polish and has a very large core drilled stringing hole. There is a possibility that the hole may have been enlarged at a later date. There are a couple of areas of light surface wear.
